I was very happy I got back in touch with a photographer (though facebook) I met a few years ago and we scheduled a shoot.  It almost didn’t happen though because my text messages to facebook were not posting :( so he was assuming I flaked!  I made sure to get in touch with him and we had a great time shooting.

Nick Cusolito was the original photographer that gave me the idea to do a Lady Godiva shoot with my hair and since then I have been working to put it together, but circumstances have always prevented me from being able to do it.  Well since I am back in touch with Nick, he is as determined as I am to make this shoot happen - how cool would that be!!!

So this will be really exciting…I know it has been anticipated for a while…a new gallery…very tasteful teasing, artful implied nude!  After all, Lady Godiva was naked on the horse (for a noble cause), so I better be ready to pose in likeness - luckily I have a secret.  If I share this secret the other female models will love me, but the male fans may be disappointed…so if you want to know my secret send me a comment ;)

I wanted to share the story of Lady Godiva since I mentioned her intentions were noble and she was nowhere near a street walker type:   According to the popular story,[14][15] Lady Godiva took pity on the people of Coventry, who were suffering grievously under her husband’s oppressive taxation. Lady Godiva appealed again and again to her husband, who obstinately refused to remit the tolls. At last, weary of her entreaties, he said he would grant her request if she would strip naked and ride through the streets of the town. Lady Godiva took him at his word and, after issuing a proclamation that all persons should stay indoors and shut their windows, she rode through the town, clothed only in her long hair. Only one person in the town, a tailor ever afterwards known asPeeping Tom, disobeyed her proclamation in one of the most famous instances ofvoyeurism.[16] In the story, Tom bores a hole in his shutters so that he might see Godiva pass, and is struck blind.[17] In the end, Godiva’s husband keeps his word and abolishes the onerous taxes.  (cited from wikipedia)

Dorothy & The Clown

I met and worked with a new photographer who recently moved to my area from the east coast.  Our photo shoot was very last minute, nothing really planned out, and I had the best time ever!  I amazingly ended up with a stylist when I almost didn’t get a chaperon, things could have been very different.  So this is how it all played out lol…

A friend, Nolan Kubota, had a skirt I wanted to use for my Dorothy look - the Dorothy look was the only look I had time to throw together.  When I asked to borrow the skirt, he offered other things I could use too, so we spent the evening before the shoot going through his closet (drag queen) - man I was in heaven!  I finally picked out one more look, well I should say he did.  I was just so overwhelmed with all the ideas that came to me when going through his closet, I gave him the opportunity to create my second look.  I figured with only an hour to shoot I wouldn’t have time for much more than two looks.  As we were going over these looks he began to advise me on some makeup ideas to enhance the images.  At some point I finally asked him if he would be interested in coming to the shoot with me.  Once he agreed, seeming very interested in the opportunity, I then took it a step further and asked if he would be my stylist.  It could not have worked out better!  If anybody is looking for a stylist, get in touch with Nolan, he was great to work with!

My original two looks were Dorothy Gale with my dog as Toto and a clown-like character with a miniature top hat.  I had some ideas for posing as Dorothy and those images came out great.  I was kinda shooting from the hip for the clown, my stylist Nolan was looking forward to seeing my ‘improv’.  I just goofed around an had fun with it.  I felt so expressive and the images came out amazing, definitely something different from what I have done.   The photographer was enjoying it so much we kept going, past the allotted hour and added two more looks.  He kept saying, “It’s like Im shooting different people” - man was that a compliment!  Thats the best way to get more work as a model, by having different looks, changing who you appear to be (not just visually, but in attitude too)  Believe it or not, your attitude does show through in the picture - if you are uncomfortable it is evident in the picture.  Being a successful model is all about being comfortable in your skin.

warrior knife I am Nyki, Warrior Princess!

I was looking forward to this shoot so, so, so much!  I have been wanting to do a photo shoot like this since I got my chain-mail bra.   I jumped out of my seat when I got the request to do this photo shoot.  The photographer had medieval weapons he wanted to showcase and I had the right look to be his ‘Vanna White’ as it were with my muscular arms and mean face.   I asked him to postpone the shoot for a week in order to get my hair done in the term I coined, ‘braidlocks’.  Its my clean dreadlocks look, an alternative to not bathing and destroying my hair lol.

By the way, it took two nights to do my hair!  The first night took about 4 hours and did just the top of my head.  The next night took about another 4 hours and got the rest of my hair braided.  Can you imagine how soar the forearms were of the person braiding my 3-4 feet of hair!

We went out to an abandoned road with railroad tracks nearby and did lots of desert shots.  Let me saw it was freakin’ HOT, specially in those black thigh high boots!  I felt like my legs were cooking under the sun.  I did put sunscreen on to prevent some weird sunburn lines - getting awkward tan-lines just as we enter summertime is not exactly fun.  Could you imagine a meshed sunburn (through the chain-mail)?!

My friend came with me as a chaperon for safety and she got the luxury of sitting in the air conditioned car as the photographer and I sweat and sweltered in the unrelenting sun.

After we couldn’t take the sun & heat anymore, we finished the photo shoot in the studio.  It was really nice to be in the cool air and not have my drink boil before I even finish it lol.  In the studio the photographer had a fog machine set up with a black backdrop - just wait until you see these pictures!  I look like Im wandering through some dark swamp, its very cool.  I will be posting these images soon, I was just going over them with the photographer to pick some for my portfolio.   I will be adding a new gallery for these images so come check back soon!

Runway Fashion Show

I am very excited to announce I walked in my first official Runway Fashion Show.  I wore a beautiful gold dress that everybody said was perfect for my long blonde hair.  I got a picture of myself on the phone camera before going on the catwalk that I can post today and I should be getting at least one photo of me walking or posed in the garment I walked in.  The show was pretty well organized and went smoothly.

fashionshow I loved the dress and it fit me perfect!

I had a great time at the show.  My designer was very down to earth and easy going.  She is one of my heroines for taking on models that don’t fit the ‘typical’ mold of 5′8″  In all honesty I think the fashion industry is vastly changing and soon there will be opportunity for all shapes and sizes, but for now I know the tall skinny size zero models will always be employed lol.  They actually do have other fashion runway shows for the not so high fashion sizes.  Just wait, there will be voluptuous full figure women bouncing down the runways making guys forget about the clothing hehe.  But in all seriousness, the show was a great experience and I met a couple new model friends and reacquainted with old model friends

The catwalk was set up at the Barrett Jackson showroom and I could see the car garage from where our designer was set up.  It was really exciting!  They had some pretty sweet cars back there!  If you ask me we got the best spot in the house!  We were right behind the stage too so we did not have to go very far.  It got a little crazy when the owner and shop workers started going through our area to the garage while we were changing for the show, but it was worth it.  It would have been the best thing in the world if I had happened to see my wishlist car from the Barrett Jackson showroom, the 1969 Mustang!  That would have just put me in heaven, my day could not have gotten any better.

It was a great experience and I cannot wait for the next one!
